The Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar turns 87 on
Instead of sending her cakes and greeting cards, she would prefer if her fans donate generously to the Army Welfare Funds instead.
The 86-year old took to Twitter and posted a heart warming message, which reads:

Also, the songstress has been conferred with Bengal's highest civilian honour--- the Banga-Bibhushan.
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee took to her Facebook page to declare the news. Banerjee even went on to congratulate Lataji for her marvelous career. The award ceremony will be held on . Mamata along with Sanjeev Goenka (Chairman of the music label Saregama) and a few other distinguished guests will hand over the award to Ms Mangeshkar. The Banga Bibhushan is to honour her contribution to Bengali music and the award ceremony will happen in Mumbai.
Not long ago, Lata Mangeshkar had condemned the Uri attack in Kashmir and paid tribute to the jawans who lost their lives.
