Shaan is one of the leading playback singers of Bollywood. He has lent his voice to several chart topping songs over the years in his career. He also hosted shows like Sa Ge Ga Ma Pa, Star Voice Of India, Music Ka Maha Muqabla and more. He enjoys a massive fan following. Shaan, who has been a part of the industry for over two decades, has made headlines for multiple reasons besides his songs.
Currently, an old video of the singer has taken the internet by storm wherein he is heard reading out abusive comments during an Instagram live session. He can be heard saying, "Kaunse log hai ye? Tameez se baat karenge, badtameezi mat karo aur gaali wali mat do because that shows your true colours."
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Shaan opened up about the new generation of singers in the industry and said that young male singers had pressure to sound like good singers and how everyone is now trying to be Arijit Singh. "There is a tremendous pressure to sound like a singer especially for boys. Everyone is trying to be the next Arijit Singh and fail to get their own identity," said Shaan.
Recalling the old times, he said, "At that time, everyone had to sound like (singers) Kishore Kumar or Mohammed Rafi. That pressure was present even when Sonu (Nigam) entered that music scene. But when Kunal (Ganjawala), KK and I entered the industry, that pressure was not there to sound like someone."
The singer believes that the same trend has returned. "Abhi ghoom firr ke wapas aa gaya hai. Everyone is looking for Arijit Singh's voice. As a result, everyone has started sounding the same way, which is why their own identity is lost."
