Parikrama Lead Guitarist Sonam Sherpa Passes Away; Farhan Akhtar Mourns His Demise, Pens An Emotional Note

Sonam Sherpa, lead guitarist of the popular Indian band Parikrama, passed away today. Farhan Akhtar, who was a part of 4 city tour with the band after the release of Rock On, took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt tribute and mourned his demise

Parikrama Lead Guitarist Sonam Sherpa Passes Away; Farhan Akhtar Mourns His Demise, Pens An Emotional Note
Sonam Sherpa, the founding member and lead guitarist of the popular Indian rock and roll band Parikrama, passed away on Friday. He breathed his last in Kurseong, where he had gone to record music for an upcoming film. Sherpa was 48. According to reports, the musician suffered a massive cardiac arrest. Farhan Akhtar, who had performed with Sherpa and was a part of 4 city tour with the band after the release of his 2008 film Rock On, took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt tribute and mourned his demise.

Farhan Akhtar shared a picture with Sonam Sherpa, during their performance and they can both be seen on stage. Farhan remembered Sherpa and wrote in the caption, “In 2008, post Rock On!!, I was part of a 4 city tour with the amazing #Parikrama and I can never forget or adequately say how thankful I am for the love and warmth that #SonamSherpa extended to this first timer on stage.. he was a gifted guitarist, a supremely cool guy and a true rock star. RIP brother.Deepest condolences to his family. On stage and off it.”

Music composer Ehsaan Noorani also grieved the loss of Sonam Sherpa and captioned his Instagram post, “Forever remembered as the eternal rocker and a hell of a nice guy RIP my brotherSonam Sherpa I cant believe that you are gone .....”







Another band member Subir Malik spoke with EastMojo and said that he heard the news of Sonam Sherpa’s demise and was in a state of shock. He said, “I heard the news a few minutes ago. I am myself in a state of shock and on my way to the deceased's home in New Delhi to meet his family. Sonam was in Kurseong to record the music for an upcoming movie. I am told he suffered a massive cardiac arrest there. It is not yet clear at this stage where the last rites will be performed."
