Half Girlfriend First Song: Shraddha Kapoor & Arjun Kapoor Surely Need Chemistry Lessons In ‘Baarish’

Half Girlfriend First Song: Shraddha Kapoor & Arjun Kapoor Surely Need Chemistry Lessons In ‘Baarish’

With decent vocals by Ash King and Shashaa Tirupati, Half Girlfriends’ first song, Baarish, is a disappointment in terms of its visual appeal.

The entire rain setting might remind you of Shraddha Kapoor in Aashiqui 2, but trust us, the chemistry there with Aditya Roy Kapur was much more than what it is with Arjun Kapoor.

The song shows Madhav (Arjun Kapoor) falling for the ‘hi-fi’ college bomb Riya (Shraddha) as she enjoys her soulful (not really) moments in rain. And it falls flat in the end with Shraddha’s straight face saying, “Wanna Play”.

The song is composed by Tanishk Bagchi and penned by Arafat Mehmood & Tanishk Bagchi.

The trailer of Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Half Girlfriend received mixed reactions from the audience – while a many loved the delightful chemistry, few had issues with the plot to Arjun and Shraddha playing the same kind of role.

The film, based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name, has Arjun and Shradhha paired up for the first time.

Arjun essays the role of Madhav Jha, a Bihari boy who meets Riya Somani (Shraddha), a dreamer, at St Stephens College, Delhi. Despite polar opposite backgrounds they bond on basketball and thus begin a relationship like no other.

The latter half of the story focuses on Madhav looking for Riya in New York. While Arjun-Shraddha’s pairing shows much promise, we couldn’t help but notice that the actor’s Bihari accent is off putting. The recently released Badrinath Ki Dulhania had lead actors, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, acing their UP accent; hence it will be difficult for fans to settle for anything less than perfection.

And with the first song leaving us disappointed, we hope the next one is better.
