Guru Randhawa is celebrating his 28th birthday today, on August 30. He is the original 'gabru' and one of the versatile artists of the entertainment industry. He is a singer, songwriter, music composer, and he has recently turned into a producer for an upcoming Punjabi film titled ‘Tara Mira’. However, there are a few interesting facts about the singer which we bet you don’t know.
In the year 1991, Guru was born in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. His actual name is Gursharanjot Singh Randhawa. By performing in some small shows in Gurdaspur he started his singing career. After that, he started singing for functions and parties in Delhi.
To build a career in singing he stayed in Delhi for some time and while his stay in Delhi he completed his MBA. Rapper Bohemia gave him his stage name ‘Guru’.
Guru is known for crooning songs like ‘Patola’, ‘Lahore’, ‘High Rated Gabru’, ‘Suit’, among others. However, his song ‘Lahore’ has become one of the most viewed Punjabi songs on YouTube in India as it has clocked over 700 million views.
After that, Guru has made history by collaborating with American rapper Pitbull for a song named ‘Slowly Slowly’ and by fetching over 38 million views in less than 24 hours it has become one of the world’s all-time most-viewed music videos.
