Kantara 2: Rishab Shetty CONFIRMS The Blockbuster Movie’s Prequel; Says, ‘The History Has More Depth, Digging Into More Details’
Rishab Shetty has announced that he is currently in the process of scripting his blockbuster movie Kantara’s prequel as the first part completes 100 days in theatres
Ever since the release of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara hit the theatres in 2022, the audiences have been going crazy to know more about the sequel of the film. It became one of the biggest hits by the Indian film industry in 2022. Recently, the entire team came together for a celebration as the movie completed 100 days in theatres in January. On the auspicious occasion, Rishab announced that he is working on the prequel of the first movie.
Yes, you read that right! At the event the filmmaker, who also stars as the lead of Kantara, shared that they have already started researching more about the lore as the history of the movie has too much to offer. As quoted by Indian Express, Rishabh said, “We are very pleased and thankful to the audience who had shown immense love and support to Kantara. With the blessing of almighty Daiva, the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of Kantara.” ALSO READ: Kantara To Get A Prequel? Confirming that Kantara 2 will be a prequel to the first movie, he shared, “What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year. The idea flashed into my mind while I was shooting for Kantara because the history of Kantara has more depth to it. Currently, we are in the middle of digging into more details. Talking about Rishab’s next movie, it is being reported that it will be shot on a lavish budget. Hombale Films will be spending Rs 3000 crore in making the movie, a huge contrast to Kantara’s modest budget of Rs 16 crore. Vijay Kiragandur, co-owner of the production company, shared, “Kantara introduced the audience to a new cinema altogether and we would love to sustain and in fact boost the rage that the film has created among the audience on the screens by announcing the sequel, as the film has now completed its 100 days. Rishab and our team have been working on the story rigorously as the film has many more things to tell to the audience while opening the back story of Kantara and we can just guarantee that the prequel of Kantara is going to be more massive and grand than before.”
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the movie is produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films. While Shetty plays the lead in the movie, it also stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Prakash Tuminad, Naveen D Padil in pivotal roles. Apart from Kannada and Hindi, the movie was also released in Tamil, Malyalam, and Telugu. Set in coastal Karnataka, the movie deals with the issues of land politics and man vs. nature.
