The Monday morning brought disheartening news of the sad demise of the Kannada film industry's reverential actress Jayanthi. The veteran actress was given the title of Abhinaya Sharadhe. The actress was 76 when she breathed her last. She passed away in her sleep, the reason is stated to be age-related. Cinema fans are in a state of shock on hearing the news of Jayanthi's demise. 

The veteran actress has acted in hundreds of films in prominent roles. Her predominant language was Kannada but she has also given a vast number of hits across five languages and has reigned on top of most charts. She was known by the moniker Abhinaya Sharadhe or the goddess of acting. She won the Karnataka State Film Awards seven times and the Filmfare Awards twice. She has shared screen space with the topmost stars of her era. Her character roles have supported many young stars as well. 


The veteran actress's son Krishna Kumar broke the news to the media. He stated that she was recovering from illnesses but ultimately breathed her last during her sleep. 

Jayanthi was leading a socially distant yet digitally connected life with fans, friends, and family even amidst the lockdown.
