Popular Malayalam Actor Poojapura Ravi DIES At 83; Funeral To Be Held Tomorrow; Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Mourns His Sad Demise
Popular Malayalam Actor Poojapura Ravi breathed his last on 18th June at his daughter’s residence near Marayoor in Idukki District. He was 83. For the past few months, the actor was staying with his daughter and was not keeping well. A source close to the bereaved family revealed that Ravi’s body will be brought to Thiruvananthapuram today and the funeral will be held on Tuesday. Poojapura Ravi is survived by two children.

The tragic demise of Poojapura Ravi has left the entire Malayalam film industry shocked and heartbroken.  Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other ministers mourned the sad demise of the actor. In the statement, the CM said Ravi had conquered the minds of people through theatre. He was quoted saying “He later became popular through the comedy roles he played in the movies. His demise is a loss to the art and cultural landscape of the state.” State Minister for Culture Saji Cheriyan spoke about the late theatre artiste’s long acting career in which he has acted in around 4,000 plays and nearly 800 movies. Netizens also took to Twitter to pay heartfelt tributes to the noted actor. 




One user tweeted, “#PoojapuraRavi passes away. The comedian-actor in many #Malayalam films had a special relationship with the Sunitha Films Banner under M Mani, the producer of the Super hit CBI Diarykuruppu series 1-2.  Om Shanti.” Another said, “Ravindran Nair aka Poojapura Ravi is an actor who has traveled along the history of Malayalam cinema from the black & white era to colors. He started as a theater actor & was a regular member at Jagathy NK Achari's art gallery. Ravi made his silver screen debut with a small role.”

Poojapura Ravi is best known for his performance in films ‘Kallan Kappalil Thanne’, ‘Rowdi Ramu’, ‘Ormakal Marikkumo’, ‘Ammini Mammavan’, Mutharamkunnu P O’, and ‘Mazha Peyyunnu Maddhalam Kottunnu’ among others.
