Kadaisi Vivasayi Actress Kasammal Passes Away After Son P Namakodi Beats Her To Death; Latter Arrested By Tamil Nadu Police- REPORTS
Kasammal breathed her last during a beating by her son P Namakodi last Sunday morning
Veteran actress Kasammal, who made a mark in the industry with her powerful acting in Kadaisi Vivasayi, left for her heavenly abode on February 4. She breathed her last after her son P Namakodi, age 52, beat her to death in Anaiyur, near Usilampatti in Madurai city, Tamil Nadu. According to a report by the Free Press Journal, the mother and son got into a dispute in the early hours of the morning on Sunday. She refused to give him more money for alcohol and he beat her to death. She passed away on February 4th, 2024 at 3:00 a.m.
As per the report, Namakodi had been living with the veteran actress after being separated from his wife 15 years ago. His addiction to alcohol led to him demanding money from his mother frequently. On the fateful day, being denied more money led him to beat Kasammal to death. If the media reports are to be believed he used a wooden log to injure the actress.
The Usilampatti Taluk Police intervened after the incident and transported her mortal remains for post-mortem examination at the government hospital. The FPJ report further states that Namakodi was arrested by the officials. He was remanded along with the murder weapon, which was seized by the authorities.
For the unversed, Kasammal and her husband Balasami had four kids together.
On the work front, Kasammal was a part of Kadaisi Vivasayi. Released in 2021, the Tamil film starrer Nallandi, Vijay Sethupathi, and Yogi Babu. She had won the hearts of the audience with her performance as she essayed the role of Sethupathi’s mother in the M. Manikandani directorial. The movie was awarded National Film Award as the Best Tamil Feature Film.
