Kollywood Actor Kannan Gets Arrested By The Cyber Crime Police For Sharing A Video Of A Pastor Dancing With A Woman- REPORTS
Renowned stunt master and actor Kanal Kannan has made a name for himself in Kollywood, Tamil entertainment industry, with his sheer hard work and performances. He was arrested by the Kanniyakumari district cyber crime police on Monday in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. He had allegedly passed derogatory remarks against Christianity by posting a video on Twitter about a month ago. 

Sharing the video of a pastor dancing with a woman, on the micro-blogging website he questioned the truth behind ‘foreign religious culture,’ urging ‘converted Hindus’ to think. In Tamil, he wrote, “This is the true state of foreign religious culture???!!!! Think converted Hindus!!!! Repent!!!” According to a report by The Hindu, the case was registered against him on July 1.


In the complaint DMK IT wing’s deputy organiser, Austin Bennet claimed that the actor posted a ‘manipulated video’ and captioned that it was the culture of a foreign religion. It is being alleged that he posted the Tweet with an ulterior motive of tarnishing the image of Christianity and triggering hatred between different faiths to undermine the peace. Upon being asked by the police, Kannan appeared for an inquiry on Monday with his advocates. 

As per the report by the leading daily, the Kollywood stunt master tried to leave the inquiry before it was over, for lunch claiming that he was diabetic. However, the police assured him that the food will be served to him in the office itself, while stating that he is not allowed to leave while in the middle of an inquiry. He was then arrested for his controversial post around 7 pm on Monday. Further details on the case are awaited.
