Priyamani has been a part of the Indian film industry for over 20 years now, and she is one of the most staunch individuals in the industry. She is credited with some of the most iconic projects in South and Hindi films. She is also known for her impeccable performance in the Raj and DK web series, The Family Man.
While the actress has taken up some of the most diverse characters and stories, she has always maintained and stuck by her rules. Priyamani has always maintained a ‘no-kissing’ clause in her contract and she says that her decision is out of consideration for her husband and family.
In a recent interview with News18, the actress has now shared the real reason for sticking by her ethics. The actress said, “I won’t kiss onscreen. That would be a no for me. I know it’s just a role and it’s my job but on a personal note, I won’t be comfortable if I’ve to kiss another man onscreen, simply because I’ve to be answerable to my husband.”
She also added that even though her family and her in-laws are supportive of her career, she doesn’t want to put them in any awkward situation when they see her in films.
“I know that both sides of my family will watch any project when it comes out. They also know that it’s my job but I don’t want them to cringe. I don’t want them to think, ‘Why is my daughter-in-law doing this even after marriage? Why is somebody else putting their hands on her?’ They will not voice it out but it’s my personal choice,” she said.
