10 Years Of Baahubali: The Beginning! Looking At The Incredible Transformation Prabhas!
With the release of Baahubali, the nation not only witnessed the origin of one of India’s biggest film franchises but also saw the rise of the undisputed pan-India superstar, Prabhas. Filled to the brim with stunning sets and costumes, high-quality VFX for its time, and a gripping tale, the film has stood the test of time and has become a total game-changer. What truly grabbed the attention of the masses was Prabhas and his remarkable transformation.

As the film completes 10 years, let’s reminisce about the incredible transformation journey Prabhas undertook to bring the iconic roles of Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali to life.

Since he was playing a double role, Prabhas had to maintain two distinct physiques. For Amarendra Baahubali, he had to bulk up and build muscle, whereas for the younger character, Shivudu, he had to appear lean. His body transformed over more than four years — he weighed nearly 100 kg with a body fat percentage between 9-10%.

All of it truly paid off, with the massive success of the film leading to its sequel, Baahubali: The Conclusion. The second installment came with its own challenges, and so did Prabhas’s preparation. His training regime, shooting schedule, and diet for the sequel were entirely different. He continued with six meals a day, including egg whites, chicken, nuts, almonds, fish, and vegetables. However, for Baahubali prep, he switched to eight meals a day, this time carb-heavy, including cheese and mutton.

Prabhas’s dedication was nothing short of magical. Even after shooting intense stunt sequences, he never missed a workout. There were days he would begin exercising at midnight. His discipline and hard work were extraordinary.

In the end, it all paid off incredibly well, as the nation found its undisputed pan-India superstar in Prabhas.

On the workfront, Prabhas will next be seen in Spirit, Salaar 2, Kalki 2 and Raja Saab
