The news left their fans heartbroken. The rumours of their separation have been making buzz after the actress dropped 'Akkineni' from her name on social media handles. Much to everyone's surprise, Naga Chaitanya has been living away from Samantha since a month as both have agreed to part ways. According to a report in Pinkvilla, "Naga Chaitanya has been living alone in a posh hotel in Hyderabad since a month after he and Samantha decided mutually to divorce."

The actors mentioned in their statement that they have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue their own paths. Nagarjuna reacted to the news of their separation and wrote, "With a heavy heart let me say this! Whatever happened between Sam and Chay is very unfortunate. What happens between a wife and husband is very personal. Sam and Chay both are dear to me. My family will always cherish the moments spent with Sam and she will always be dear to us! May God bless them both with strength."
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya fell in love with each other on the sets of their film Ye Maya Chesave and later got married in 2017 in Goa.
