Veteran Actor Chandra Mohan Passes Away At 80! Chiranjeevi, Jr. NTR And Others Offer Condolences-READ BELOW
Popular Telugu film actor Chandra Mohan died of a brief illness at Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad on Saturday, informed his family members. The artist who has acted in 932 films including the main lead in 150 movies, was 80-years-old and he is survived by his wife Jalandhara, and two daughters.

“He had been ailing for quite some time due to age-related issues and he passed away at around 9:45 am at Apollo Hospitals,” a family member told reporters, adding that his last rites will be performed in Hyderabad on Monday.

Chandra Mohan, who legally goes by the name Mallampalli Chandrasekhar Rao, was also a cousin of veteran director and Dada Sahab Phalke award winner K Vishwanath, who passed away in February this year. Interestingly, he is closely related to the popular playback singer late S P Balasubrahmanyam. 

Born on May 23, 1943 at Pamidimukkala village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Mohan started off in the Telugu film industry through the film ‘Rangula Ratnam’ in 1966 for which he bagged the state government’s Nandi award for the best actor. 

He won two Filmfare awards and several awards from the state government for the best actor and character artiste.

Following Chandra Mohan’s demise, megastar Chiranjeevi penned an emotional note after hearing the news. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "It is very sad to know that the senior actor and protagonist Chandramohan Garu, who left an indelible mark in the minds of Telugu people through his versatile acting skills in many such films as 'Sirisirimuvva', 'Sankarabharanam', 'Radhakalyanam' and 'Nakoo Pellam Khali' is no more."

"In my debut film 'Pranam Kharidu' he gave an outstanding performance in the role of a mute. Our first acquaintance on that occasion turned into a good friendship and an even greater bond. It is a personal loss for me to no longer be close to him.May his soul rest in peace, my deepest condolences to his family and fans. ," Chiranjeevi added.


He wrote in Telugu, "It is very sad to see the untimely death of Chandramohan Garu, who has earned a special recognition for himself by playing different roles in films for many decades. My deepest condolences to his family and may his soul rest in peace."


Actor Sai Dharam Tej posted, "His is a face that takes us down the memory lane & puts a smile on our faces every time with his memorable Acting & characters. May your soul rest in peace Chandra Mohan sir. Om Shanti"
