Veteran Actress Jamuna Passes Away At 86 Due To Age-Related Illness; Last Rites To Be Performed In The Evening- REPORTS
Telugu film industry’s veteran actress Jamuna has left for her heavenly abode. She breathed her last during the early hours of Friday at the age of 86 at her residence in Hyderabad. If reports are to be believed, the actress who starred in more than 150 movies, had been battling age-related illness for quite some time. She had a career worth remembering, known for her extensive work in the Telegu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi movies.

As reported by India Today, her mortal remains will likely be taken to the Film Chamber for public homage. While the details of her funeral are yet to be revealed, it is being said that her last rites will take place by the end of today, January 27th. For the unversed, the late actress, born in 1936 as Jana Bai in Hampi, he family had moved to Duggirala, Guntur. She started her career as an actress at the age of 16. 

Celebrities from the Telugu film industry have taken to social media to mourn the loss of a legend and express their condolences to the family.






After making her debut with Garikapati Rajarao’s Puttillu in 1953, she received recognition through LV Prasad’s Missamma in 1955. She then ventured into Hindi cinema as she reprised her role from Mooga Manasulu (1964) in Milan (1967), a remake of the former movie. She had gone on to receive a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. 

The actress had gotten married to a zoology professor Juluri Ramana Rao, who passed away in 2014 due to cardiac arrest. She is survived by her two children - son Vamsee and daughter Sravanthi.
