‘If I Was Not Muslim, This Would Not Have Happened’: Says Sheezan Khan Post His Arrest In Tunisha Sharma Suicide Row-REPORTS
Tunisha Sharma and Sheezan Khan’s relationship has been in discussion ever since the actress committed suicide on the sets of her show - Ali Baba. Amid the questions that have been raised around her private life, Tunisha and Sheezan’s family have been embroiled in a nasty feud and the altercation just doesn’t seem to cooldown anytime soon. While the actor has been arrested on the charges of abetment to suicide - after Tunisha’s mother accuesed him of instigating her daughter to take her own life - Sheezan has now claimed that he was arrested only because of his religion.

The recent comment comes the light of the claims made by Sheezan’s lawyer who claimed that about 15 minutes before Tunisha Sharma died by suicide, she had a video call with a guy named Ali. She joined tinder after her breakup with the actor, where she reportedly met with a guy named Ali, Sheezan's lawyer, Shailendra Mishra was quoted as saying to the Palghar court. ALSO READ | SHOCKING! Tunisha was reportedly in contact with Ali via a dating app and was in his company between December 21 and 23, as claimed by Sheezan’s lawyer

"In the last 15 minutes, she spoke to Ali on a video call. So it’s not me but Ali who was in touch," Mishra said on behalf of his client.

He also claimed that Tunisha had addressed her suicidal thoughts with co-star Parth and showed him the rope she planned to use to kill herself. "When I overheard this conversation, I intruded and contacted her family, informed them, and asked them to take care of her," Shailendra Mishra said for his client.

To note, Sheezan’s lawyer also claimed that Sheezan and Tunisha continued to remain on good terms with one another following their breakup and they even kept filming the show regularly.

"Another allegation is that I was forcing her to speak Urdu. I myself don’t know the language. I learn my lines as per the director’s demand. My sisters also don’t know Urdu," said Sheezan through his counsel.

Soon after pictures of Tunisha wearing a hijab went viral, netizens accused that she had converted to Islam.

However, Sheezan’s counsel stated that it was only a costume change for the show and Sheezan had nothing to do with it.

"I have been arrested only because of my religion; they made this love jihad angle. They could have questioned me for two days straight, and the truth would be out. There was no reason to arrest me. If I was not Muslim, this would not have happened," Sheezan’s lawyer said.

Mishra also told the Palghar court that a criminal section had been set in motion though there is no evidence against Sheezan.

He said, "They should decide first if it’s suicide or something else. I have put all the facts in this case before the court. The court will decide."

Meanwhile, Tunisha’s counsel, Tarun Sharma has sought time from the court to go-through documents and prepare his defense, which was allowed by the judge.
