Speak of the most loved shows of Indian television and Shivaji Satam’s police procedural series CID will surely top the list. The series, which premiered on 21 January 1998, is the longest-running series in the history of TV. The cult show ran for more than 21 years before it bid goodbye to its loyal audience in 2018. Interestingly, we have got some good news for fans who are eagerly waiting for CID to make a comeback.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Shivaji, who portrayed the iconic character of ACP Pradyuman in the show, dropped a major hint that the show might return in a new format. The senior actor was quoted saying, “Producers are talking to revive C.I.D. in a different kind of format. Yes, talks are on, but there is nothing concrete. It’s still in the air.” Talking about if he is ready to play ACP Pradyuman again, Shivaji said, "Tomorrow (if) C.I.D. starts again, I’ll be right in the front to do the project. I’m not tired of playing the character, but tired of being home.”
The Vaastav actor also expressed his desire to explore other genres and to experiment with his roles. He asserted that he is mostly being offered cop roles but he does not want to repeat himself. Shivaji Satam also revealed that he has not been getting many work offers and that it is his bad luck that no powerful characters are being written for him. He feels it’s a loss on both sides. As an actor, he missed out on good work and the audience “misses out on good actors.”
On a related note, 'CID' also starred popular characters such as senior Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya, portrayed by Aditya Srivastava and Dayanand Shetty respectively. The last episode of the show was aired on 27 October 2018. ALSO READ: CID Re-Run Amid COVID-19 Lockdown: ACP Pradyuman To Daya- Let’s Take A Look At Show's Most Famous Characters
