Actress Malvi Malhotra was reportedly stabbed thrice by a knife by a man on Monday night as she was returning from a café. As per reports, the man wanted to marry her, but she had turned down the proposal. A report in Mumbai Mirror states that the actress was attacked on Monday night in the Versova area of Andheri, Mumbai. The report also mentioned that according to the police, the accused Yogesh Mahipal Singh identifies himself as a producer, and he stopped Malvi on the way, asking her why she had stopped talking to him.
According to Mumbai Mirror, this led to an argument between them, and the man stabbed Malvi with a knife in the abdomen and on both hands. After this, he fled the scene. Malvi was taken to the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai and she is currently undergoing treatment there. Mumbai Mirror quoted Versova police station's senior inspector Raghvendra Thakur saying, “We have registered an FIR against Singh under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 307 (attempt to murder), and are conducting an investigation into the case.” The police has also obtained the CCTV footage of the area.
Malvi told the police that she had connected with the accused on Facebook for work and had only met him once in the last one year that she has known him. She said that the man wanted to marry her, but she had rejected the proposal. Malvi is known for her appearance in the TV show Udaan, and has also been a part of some South films. She also featured in the 2018 film Hotel Milan, which starred Kunaal Roy Kapur.
