Ajay Chaudhary Slams Rupali Gangully's' Anupamaa: 'I Know It Is Getting Highest TRP But It's Very Sad'- EXCLUSIVE
Tenali Rama actor Ajay Chaudhary is not a happy man and the reason for it is Star Plus' popular show, Anupamaa. He feels the show is giving out wrong message to the youth
Star Plus' Anupamaa starring Rupali Gangully, Sudhanshu Pandey and Madalsa Sharma in main leads is ruling the TRP charts. The show which went on air in July this year has managed to make space in the audience's heart.
Anupamaa is a journey of a devoted housewife who often gets humiliated by her husband and family members and later discovers bitter truth of his extra marital affair. Now, TV actor Ajay Chaudhary has shown his disappointment over the plot of the show and slammed makers for promoting such content on TV.
Talking to us exclusively Uttran actor told SpotboyE, "I got to know Anupamaa is getting good TRP's but it's very sad actually that this kind of content is getting highest numbers here. My mother and my wife also watch this serial and are kind of hooked to it. My wife is also from the same industry. In fact, my five-year-old daughter also used to watch this show initially but I have stopped it completely now as all this extra marital affair drama which they are showing I don't feel its her age to see all this. I don't understand one thing that we keep saying it's young India, so is generation ko hum kya sikhana chah rahe hain, kya dikhana chah rahe hain, mujhe samajh mein nahi aata hai. I feel there is a lot of content which we should actually make for today's generation which can help them to learn about our values, traditions and customs of our country. And if we don't do it now then our future generations will not know what exactly we are?" He went on saying, "I don't understand just to make money, why are makers and channels showing such things? By saying it's inspired from real life, you can give any reason to call yourself correct but ogo ki life mein to bahut kuch hota hai, you can't show everything on TV. Television is a medium which is seen by all sorts of people with every age group. If they want to show such content then they should do it on OTT. I also watch Netflix where there is such content because it can be accessed individually.
When television was started the reason behind it was the entire family could sit together and entertain themselves. And earlier we did have such wonderful shows like Buniyad, Swabhiman, Shaanti, Ramayan, Mahabharat where they used to tell such stories but in a certain way that all of us could watch it together. I remember I also used to come from school in the afternoon excitedly to watch Shaanti. There were times when electricity used to be not there and all used to come together under one roof to watch shows like Ramayan. But if they are showing content which we are not comfortable watching with our kids or we feel its not giving out a right message, so we are not justifying the platform."
Before concluding he said, "I feel that such content should not be promoted. Even if such storylines are being picked then it should give out a positive message where people will get a good learning that such things are wrong. Sometimes I feel angry at the kind of content being made on TV. It shows that we are still stuck in those things. I don't feel TRPs make any show successful." Ajay, whom we last saw on Tenali Rama, has been part of shows like Rishton Ka Chakravyuh, Phulwa and Kumkum before.
