Anupamaa's Rupali Ganguly, Her Brother Vijay Win Same Award As Their Father After 46 Years, Actress Says, ‘It Is Like Life Has Come In A Full Circle'
Rupali Ganguly and her brother Vijay Ganguly won Lions Gold Awards for Best Actress- Anupamaa and Best Choreographer respectively as their father after 46 years
Rupali Ganguly is one of the top actresses in tinsel town. She has garnered adulation and many awards for her character Anupama in the daily soap ‘Anupamaa’. She has become a household name with Rajan Shahi’s show. She has been part of the entertainment industry for quite a long time like her father. Currently, she is on cloud nine as she and her brother Vijay Ganguly won the same award as their father had won after 46 years.
Rupali Ganguly and her brother Vijay won Lions Gold Awards for ‘Best Actress’ for Anupamaa and the award for ‘Best Choreography’ for Chakachak respectively. Their father Anil Ganguly is a National Award-winning director and a screenwriter who has given commendable films like Kora Kagaz, and Tapasya to name a few. Anil Ganguli won the Lions Gold Awards for best story of the year for the movie ‘Tapasya’.
The ‘Anupamaa’ actress expressed her happiness and said, “My father, Mr. Anil Ganguly, received this award 46 years ago for his movie Tapasya, for which he’d received a National award too. As his children, we are extremely proud to be able to have two trophies next to his. I’m grateful that Vijay and I have received enough recognition this year but this one is really special.”
She continued. “Moreso because we received it at the same platform considering we belong to television & Bollywood respectively, this award brought us together on the stage. It was a really emotional moment for the two of us. It is like life has come in a full circle now.”
The ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ actress shared a photo posing with her brother holding the trophy and captioned, “This one is special cos this trophy is the only one we both have in common with our Pappa The Lions Award”. Even Vijay Ganguly dropped and picture and wrote, “his one is special!!! My father got the @lionsgoldawards in 1976 and 46 years later, we both get the same award!! Feels nice!! Thank you thank you @aanandlrai sir!! Yeah wale ke liye aur bhi thank you! Love you sir!!”
Talking about Rupali Ganguly’s career she is currently playing the titular character in Anupamaa on Starplus. She has also been part of the most loved comedy show, ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ of all time. She was also part of the daily soap Parvarrish and even hosted Rangoli on Doordarshan.
On the other hand, Vijay Ganguly is an ace choreographer in Bollywood films. He has won many prestigious awards including IIFA and Filmfare.
