Sudhanshu Pandey and Rupali Ganguly starrer Anupamaa has been ruling the television screen for quite a long time. The daily soap has become one of the most widely watched and loved television shows and is topping the TRP charts for quite some time now, courtesy gripping storylines and well-framed actors. Among all the characters, Vanraj and Anuapamaa have become household names among the masses.

Well, it is also no hidden fact that with the popularity also comes a fair share of criticism, especially for the antagonist. Sudhanshu Pandey who plays the character of Vanraj recently talked about the negative comments he receives on social media because of his character.


Speaking to ETimes, the actor shared that initially, it was new for him to understand the reactions he received from the people on social media. He further expressed how difficult it was for him to accept this thing that the audience gets too attached to the characters. He was quoted saying, “They start believing that what I play on show is the real me. I had to bear the trolling and negative comments on social media because of my character.”

Sudhanshu Pandey also talked about how he bagged the show and the reason for taking up the character. Elaborating further, he said that he met Rajan Shahi in one of the award functions where he expressed his desire to work again on television only if he will get a good role to play.


The actor said, “A couple of months later, he called me for Anupama, but before that he prepared me for around a month regarding the working style of television. The long working hours... I realized it's not going to be luxurious like films. It will be tough."

Sudhanshu plays a grey character in the serial ‘Anupamaa’ which revolves around a story of a middle-aged housewife who breaks the gender stereotype to make her own identity.
