Now, as many actors have negotiated their fees due to the global crisis, in an interview, actress Archana Puran Singh who is entertaining fans on a comedy show opens up about the pays cuts in the industry. The actress spoke about her remuneration and the need to negotiate fees amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.
In an interview with Navbharattimes.com, Archana Puran Singh revealed that she has already cut her fees. Talking about the pay cut, via pledgetimes.com, Singh said, “Whenever you sign a contract anywhere, the agreement is only after the bargain. Now it is not just a matter of lockdown, earlier we have been deducting on the fees of artist or remuneration. Seeing the demand of the time, we artists have also been doing our less and less.” As Archana Puran Singh opened up about pay cuts in the industry, the actress spoke about the negotiation of remuneration and recalled the time when the country was under the economic recession in 2011. The actress then mentioned how one has to be realistic during the difficult time of crisis.
Talking about pay cuts and renegotiating the fees, Archana Puran Singh mentioned how if one wants to stay in the industry, work will have to be done on realistic fees. She said, “Now in such a situation when we will be asked or going to reduce our fees, then we should also tell a realistic fee so that the employer will also find it appropriate to stick to your work.” On the other hand, Singh also spoke about how the channel is also getting half the money at this point in time. Speaking about the need for negotiating fees, she said, “If we do not reduce our fees (remuneration cut), then it may happen that they have to leave 4 others. If you will cut and all of us are ready for this deduction, then no one will go to work, no one will sit at home. I am also ready for all kinds of cuts.”
Archana Puran Singh also mentioned how artists should support producers and channels by reducing fees. Singh said that at such times, it is necessary that the artists also supports the channel and the producers who gave them good money on a good day.
