Veteran actress Vichitra who has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films, revealed a distressing experience related to the casting couch during her appearance on Bigg Boss Tamil 7. Her revelation included the disheartening reason behind her decision to step away from acting nearly two decades ago. Despite lodging a complaint with the union regarding the incident, no action was taken against the individuals involved. While she didn't specify that the incident occurred on the sets of a Tamil film, some segments of social media speculate that her account might be referring to the 2001 Balakrishna-starrer Bhalevadivi Basu. Vichitra recounted the distressing incidents that led to her decision to step away from the movie industry. She revealed an unsettling encounter with a prominent lead actor in 2000, during a party where he made inappropriate advances without even asking her name, unsettling her deeply. Subsequently, while shooting outdoors amidst a dense area, she experienced unwarranted physical contact, initially thinking it was accidental. However, when she confronted the individual and reported the incident to the stunt master, she was met with aggression, resulting in physical harm and public humiliation as she was slapped in front of the entire film crew, leaving her with visible bruises. Reluctant to inform her parents, she confided in a friend who encouraged her to file a complaint with the union regarding the distressing ordeal.


On BB Tamil season 7, Vichithra said, "I was staying in Kerala, in a hotel, during the shoot of a South Indian language film. On the first day of the shoot, I met the lead actor who is a big star. He didn't even ask my name. He only said, "Are you in this movie? Okay, come to my room. I knew this was not right, so I rejected his advances. Veteran Tamil actress has starred in several films including Muthu, Thevar Magan, Raasi and Jayam among others.
