TV Actress Surbhi Tiwari, known for her stint in ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ has filed a complaint against her husband Praveen Kumar Sinha and her in-laws for domestic violence. In a recent interview, she opened up about suffering at the hands of her in-laws and revealed that she and Praveen have been facing troubles in their married life ever since they tied the knot. She also claimed that her Delhi-based pilot and businessman husband was not keen to start a family with her.
Speaking to ETimes TV, Surbhi said, “Soon after I married, I realised Praveen and I weren’t compatible. Praveen had agreed to move to Mumbai to live with me but later refused to relocate. I wanted to continue acting but I couldn’t take up daily soaps, as I was flying with him. As a result, I was financially dependent on him and struggled for money. Besides, I wanted to start a family soon but he wasn’t keen.” Surbhi went on to add that she has lodged a complaint against Praveen, her mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law for domestic violence and intimidating her. The actress is heading for divorce now as she felt cheated. Surbhi also mentioned that Praveen Kumar has refused to give her divorce and thus she will now take a legal route to part ways with him. “Also, I haven’t got my stree dhan (jewellery back, which is my right. Along with the jewellery given to them and me at the wedding, I also took silverware with me. I haven’t got anything back. If I had that, I wouldn’t have to sell my gold ornaments for survival and medical expenses. I feel cheated about a lot of things. Even after suffering so much, I had planned to part ways amicably. However, Praveen told me that he would not give me a divorce and that I could move the court for it. I have now decided to take the legal route against them. I will soon file for divorce,” Surbhi further stated.
The couple, who met through common friends, got married on February 10, 2019, in Mumbai.
On the work front, Surbhi Tiwari is a popular face in the television industry. She has appeared in shows like Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se, Ghar Jamai, Jap Tap Vratt, Shree Ganesh, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Shagun, Shikwah, and Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. She was last seen in the daily soap 'Tota Weds Maina.’
