Hina Khan has become a big name in the world of fashion but that was not the case when she started off with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and continued with the character for 8 long years.
So, when we caught up with the actress, for a chat about her upcoming film, Hacked, it was imperative to ask about such an important aspect of her life. Hina spoke at length about her transition and why did she feel the need to break from her image of being Akshara and be a normal girl.
"Frankly, when I entered Bigg Boss, I did not go with a mindset that I have to change my styling. Mujhe itni sense hi nahi thi. I was this child, jisne 8 saal ek hi show kiya, kahin aur dikhi nahi. Mere liye uske aage duniya thi hi nahi. When I came out of yeh Rishta...and I was in this zone where I had to enter Bigg Boss, I told my stylist, 'mujhe sirf western pehnna hai, main pakk chuki hun 8 saal saree pehenke'. So, then she got me some 600 outfits, I selected from it and wore it through my journey in the house."
Hina further explains how surprised she was after coming out and knowing her styling inside the house was appreciated greatly. The actress adds that she wants to now maintain the style icon image for her fans, who shower so much love on her.
"When I came out, I got to know I have turned into a style icon and fans are looking up to me. The biggest change was that people had started calling me Hina as earlier I was addressed as Akshara. It's good to be known by your character but jab aapko apke naam se jaana jaata hai, woh bahut badi cheez hoti hai. Talking about my transition, I'd say that I kept it alive even after coming out. I could see the change in people's reaction and felt more confident. I had a strong feeling that I should not let them down and keep going. Now, I work hard on that. My team and stylists work on every look and I make sure it's a treat for my fans."
Hina concluded the topic by candidly adding that "television actors can also dress-up stylishly and look nice". Well, we totally agree to that!
