Indian Idol 11: Aditya Narayan Reacts To #MeToo Accused Anu Malik Coming Back As The Show’s Judge
In 2018, Bollywood was taken by storm after women from various walks of life exposed men who had sexually molested or exploited them. Nana Patekar, Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, Alok Nath and Subhash Kapoor were among the many alleged offenders that got shamed. Music composer Anu Malik’s name too came out. Playback singers like Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit had accused Malik of sexually abusing them. This gave birth to a lot of outrage and, as a result, Anu Malik was removed from the judges’ panel of Indian Idol 10. However; he has been rehired as one of the judges of Indian Idol 11.

As a response to the same, the show’s anchor and singer Aditya Narayan has said that he is happy to have Anu Malik back on the same. He also added that if someone has not been legally charged for doing a crime then one can’t expect him to sit at home. In an interview with IANS, Aditya praised Anu Malik and said that he has immense respect for him. “Anuji is one of the most loved and respected musicians. In fact, I owe a lot to him because I sang my first ever Bollywood song for him for Akele Hum Akele Tum movie,” said Aditya.

He added, “I have immense respect for him but honestly you really don’t know anyone completely. You don’t know anyone from head to toe even if you have been with them... You don’t know every single aspect of their life. There is no point for me on commenting on Anuji and his life. As far as I know, he is a wonderful human being. He has always been nice to me. These allegations come from the opposite gender.”

Upon being asked about Anu Malik’s #MeToo accusations, Aditya stated, “Anuji has a family. He has two wonderful daughters. I am sure the girls are at that age where they need to be supported. I don’t know if it’s true or not. Until proven otherwise, I think you should let the people who are allegedly accused, to continue working. I am not naming anybody but if someone is guilty then that person should be punished.”
