Karan Oberoi’s Bail Plea Rejected; Lawyer Vows To Fight It In High Court
It’s a disappointing day for Karan Oberoi and his family as the actor’s bail plea has been rejected by Mumbai Sessions Court. Last Friday, the actor had filed for bail application and in his plea, he termed the FIR against him as ‘false’, an action “meant to harass”, and called his relationship with his 34-year-old accuser “consensual”.

Unfortunately, in a hearing held at the Dindoshi court on May 17, the actor was refused bail in connection to the rape accusations against him by an astrologer. His lawyer Dinesh Tiwari has stated that they are not happy with the court’s order and will take it up in the High Court.

Following his arrest on May 5, a Magistrate court sent Karan to 14 days custody on May 9. A quick recap on what exactly happened. A female astrologer accused the actor of raping and extorting money from her. An FIR was filed at the Oshiwara police station under Section 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code. On the morning of May 6, Karan was produced in Andheri Court and was taken into police custody till May 9. Shortly after that, he filed for bail plea, and in it, he stated, “The very fact that the applicant (Oberoi) and the first informant (the woman) had met through a dating app goes on to show that the intention of either party was not to get into a serious relationship.”

When we had last spoken to his sister Vani, she had emotionally told us that she doesn’t want their parents to fly down from Chandigarh to Mumbai and see their son in such a sorry state. Karan's friends Anveshi Jain, Pooja Bedi and Sudhanshu Pande have been rallying around him. Even Samir Soni who worked with him in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin stood up in his support.
