Kaun Banega Crorepati 12: Amitabh Bachchan Recalls Dharmendra Firing A Real Bullet In Irritation While Shooting Sholay; 'Main Bach Gaya'

Sholay remains to be the most iconic film till date. Jai and Veeru's friendship demonstrated by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra is still cherished by all. It is always fun when the stars share some anecdotes from the sets. Recently, Big B revealed about an incident from the sets of Sholay when he almost got hit by a bullet, thanks to an irritated Dharam Paji. On the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 12, Amitabh Bachchan revealed how Dharmendra fired a real bullet out of frustration.
It so happened that contestant CRPF DIG Preet Mohan Singh shared that Sholay is his favourite film and suggested that Dharmendra should have picked up more ammunations in the climax scene to save Amitabh Bachchan's character. Over this, the mega-star recalled, "When we were shooting for that scene, then Dharam ji was down below and I was on top of the hill. Dharam ji opens a chest and picks up the ammunition. He did it once and was unable to pick up the bullets, did it again and failed again. Dharam ji got very irritated. I don’t know what he did, he put the cartridge in the gun and they were real bullets! He was so irritated about not getting the right shot that he fired the gun."
Big B further added, "I heard a ‘whooosh’ sound as the bullet went past my ear while I was standing on the hill. He had fired a real bullet. Main bach gaya (I was unhurt). So yes, there were many such incidents during the film and Sholay was indeed a special film."
Sholay also starred Hema Malini in pivotal roles. Not to forget the iconic Amjad Khan who essayed the role of Gabbar.
