Kumkum Bhagya Is Still The Most-Watched Show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai Dips To No. 4
This week too, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya was successful in retaining top spot. Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas-Jaag Utha Shaitaan continued to be the second-most watched serial. However, it was Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that disappointed last week – it dropped from the third to the fourth spot.
Week 33 (between August 13 and 19) saw some interesting turn of events as far as the TRP game is concerned. Last week, we told you about Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya featuring Shabbir Ahluwalia and Sriti Jha being the most-watched show on TV. (Kumkum Bhagya Continues To Reign, 24 Stays Lukewarm, Aug 19) And this week too, it was successful in retaining top spot. Shabbir’s memory loss track seems to have piqued the audience’s interest. Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas-Jaag Utha Shaitaan continued to be the second-most watched serial. However, it was Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that disappointed last week – it dropped from no. 3 to no. 4.
Sony’s The Kapil Sharma Show raced ahead of Yeh Rishta… to clinch the third spot. Color’s Shakti- Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki was the fifth most viewed show on TV. Last week, the positioned belonged to Sony SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah.
A few weeks old dance reality show Dance + Season 2, and not Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, is the second most viewed show on Star Plus
Coming back to The Kapil Sharma Show, on August 14, the comedy show had the highest viewership on TV across all GECs, excluding award shows. It was watched by 20.4 million people that day. The reason for the day’s soaring TRPs could be attributed to the cast of Rustom --Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’Cruz – appearing on the show.
