TV producer Ekta Kapoor’s iconic show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was a huge hit back in the days with actors Smriti Irani and Ronit Roy playing the lead roles. The lead cast of the show rose to fame and also became household names after every fan across the country enjoyed the saas-bahu drama. Now, as the show completes 20 years ever since it first aired on national television, Ekta Kapoor celebrates 20 years of her iconic show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and recalls memories of her pitching the Saas-Bahu drama to seniors.
Taking to her Instagram account, Ekta Kapoor shared a video featuring herself. The video sees Ekta Kapoor from the time Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi aired, dressed in a saree, looking gorgeous as the show’s creative head. Sharing the video, Ekta Kapoor wrote, “20 years today to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi...!” Celebrating 20 years of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Ekta Kapoor shared how she remembers sitting nervously and pitching her show, trying to convince Sameer Nair and Tarun Katiyal that a ‘saas-bahu’ drama could work.
Ekta Kapoor further mentioned how it had never happened that a channel negotiated and gave more money as they wanted better quality when she demanded Rs 1 lac and ended up getting Rs 1.40 lac. Ekta then went on to share how she along with her team made history when her show aired on prime time and thanked everyone including the entire cast & crew behind Kyunki, Monisha, and StarPlus.
Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi aired on July 3, 2000, on Star Plus. With a total of 1,833 episodes, the final episode of the show aired on November 6, 2008.
