Veteran actor Gufi Paintal, who is best known for playing Shakuni Mama in the epic TV show ‘Mahabharat’, has been hospitalized in Mumbai due to age-related issues. It’s been more than a week since he got admitted to the hospital in suburban Andheri following heart and kidney-related problems. Gufi’s condition is reportedly said to be critical. The actor's brother Paintal has urged everyone to pray for the speedy recovery of Gufi.

Speaking to ANI, Paintal shared an update on his actor brother’s health and said, “Gufi Ji's health condition is very bad. He has heart and kidney problems.” The 80-year-old actor is currently being treated at Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital of Mumbai's Andheri West. His nephew Hiten Paintal revealed that Gufi had blood pressure and heart issues. He was keeping unwell and all this was going on for a while. Things got severe now they got him to the hospital for observation. He has been in the hospital for seven to eight days. He was critical initially, but right now he is stable.



Social media has been abuzz with get-well wishes pouring in from fans on social media. The news of Gufi’s ill health broke out on the internet after actor Tina Ghaai shared a photo of the actor and wrote in the caption, “GufiPaintal ji #Takleef mein hain #prarthana ki jeeye #omsairam #prayers #prayersforhealing #prayersneeded.”

For the unversed, Gufi Paintal forayed into Hindi cinema in 1975 with the film Rafoo Chakkar, co-starring Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Asrani and others. He is best known for playing the role of Shakuni Mama in Mahabharat, the show earned him huge popularity. He has also appeared in Hindi films like Sharmaji Namkeen, Suhaag, Dillagi, and television shows such as Om Namah Shivay, CID, Ssshhhh...Koi Hai, Dwarkadheesh Bhagwaan Shree Krishn, RadhaKrishn, and Jay Kaniya lal Ki among others.
