Mahima Makwana On Actors' Pay Cuts: 'I Would Have Lost My Job But I Didn't Agree For 40% Reduction'- EXCLUSIVE
Entertainment industry is slowly resuming shoots after nearly a 3-month lockdown. Actors and technicians are being called on the sets and precautionary measures are being taken. While people are being asked to come back to work, many are receiving calls for another intimation as well, which is of pay cuts, being demanded by the producers.

Actress Mahima Makwana has also been asked to resume shooting and has been told to take a 25 percent reduction in her professional fees.

Talking to us exclusively Mahima reveals, "We haven't received the date but definitely got a call about shoots starting anytime soon. Along with that they have asked for a 25% pay cut which was 40% until last month. But that time I clearly told them no as 40% was too much. I could have lost my job but I didn't agree to it." Also, the actress feels that the 90-day payment rule should be altered too.

"If we are considering taking pay cuts then the makers should also make provisions for releasing artistes' payments as soon as possible. Right now we just want to earn for survival," added Mahima.

The actress also reveals that CINTAA has told them to not agree to the pay cuts just as yet as they are working on it. The actress said, "I received a message from them, which has been circulated to every member day before, and it reads as: 'Dear member, kindly do not agree to any call for shooting or budget cuts from anyone till you do not receive an official message from CINTAA, as this is against the joint protocols being worked out by the Producers, Broadcasters, CINTAA & FWICE. Regards, Executive Committee'. So, I think if the federation is working for us, then we should also wait and support them."

However, Mahima also discloses that there are many actors who have agreed to the producers demand of pay cuts without any discussion. "We need to understand that we actors this time will also be risking our life the most as we will be the ones who will not  be able to wear masks all the time. I know it's completely the actors' choice of going back to shoot or not and I choose to go as it's already been 3 months that we haven't shot and I want to work. There are people losing out jobs in this pandemic and I don't want to be one of them. But if we are being asked to adjust, then the other party should also be flexible. And I would really like to wait for CINTAA's decision," said Mahima.

Mahima Makwana, who is currently seen on Colors TV Shubharambh as Rani, has also some popular shows to her name like Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Mariam Khan Reporting Live, Rishton Ka Chakrvyu.
