Last night, popular journalist and Republic TV’s Chief Arnab Goswami and his wife were attacked by a couple of goons while returning home from their studio. Soon after, on Thursday midnight, Goswami recounted the horror through a video message shared on his news channel’s social media account. As per him, it was at around 12:15 AM when he and his wife were joined by two bikers while they were inside the car. The bikers were riding parallel to him and suddenly overtook his car and stopped. Arnab added that while he tried to pay no heed to them, the men allegedly hit on his car’s windowpane to break it.
Further, as he tried to escape the location, the goons started throwing liquid-filled bottles at his car. He then stepped on his gas and left the spot. According to Arnab, the two attackers were eventually apprehended by his security. This incident has taken the social media by storm and a lot of people, including celebrities, are extending their support to the news anchor. The list also includes filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar, Ashoke Pandit and Anupam Kher. Taking to their Twitter, the trio has condemned the attack on Arnab.
Madhur wrote, “I strongly condemn the attack on @republic Chief Arnab Goswami,” while Ashoke demanded strict action from the government. He tweeted, “Concerned for the well being of #ArnabGoswami & his wife who were attacked just now, on their way home from work. I condemn this attack & appeal to the Govt. to take serious action against the attackers & provide him security. @republic #ISupportArnabGoswami.” Anupam Kher, on the other hand, called it an act of utter cowardice.
