Naagin 5 Actor Anurag Vyas On Favourtism In TV: 'I Was Selected As The Main Lead In Bhakarwadi And Was Replaced Last Moment'- EXCLUSIVE
While the entertainment industry has always been accused of nepotism and favoritism, the death of Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14 triggered the insider-outsider debate like never nefore.

We recently got talking to Naagin 5 actor Anurag Vyas, who plays Monil in the show and asked him if he has experienced favouritism in the industry. The actor, who began his television career with Aap Ke Aa Jane Se and was later seen in Dil Ye Ziddi Hai told us, “Favouritism does exist in the industry and many artistes get work because of it. Having said that, such work will not last long, and the actor, too, will not look convincing on screen. Viewers are our biggest critics and in the end, we will succeed only because of our talent, hard work and people’s support.” Also read: Rashami Desai-Adhvik Mahajan On TV Actors Being Discriminated In Bollywood: Actress Says, 'Designers Also Avoid Giving Us Outfits'- EXCLUSIVE

It’s not just about favouritism. Be it in films or TV shows, many character actors have often complained about how they are sidelined, while the lead actors walk away with all the credit. So, we asked Anurag if he too believes that the potential of the supporting cast is widely overlooked?  “Yes, that’s true in most cases, but there are people in the industry who do recognise true talent and give more opportunities to deserving artistes,” he replied.

Unlike popular perception, he doesn’t believe that it’s necessary to play the lead to succeed in the industry. “An actor’s growth is not measured by the type of character he plays, but by the efforts he puts in it. I have learnt a lot from every character I have played and am still learning. For me, learning is the only key to self-growth,” the actor explained.

It’s not as if Anurag has not had bitter experiences in the industry. He said, “If someone is planning to pursue a career in acting, he/she has to be mentally tough and prepared to face every circumstance. Five days after coming to Mumbai and after my very first audition, I was selected as the lead in the SAB TV show, ‘Bhakharwadi’. However, at the last moment, I was replaced by another actor. Yes, I felt bad, but at the same time, I thought that if I have been selected after my first audition, it’s because I have some potential and talent. This thought gave me the strength to work hard and here I am, today. That day, I learnt that rejection is not fatal if you are honest and confident about yourself and your art. No one can take away your art from you.”
