Television actor Pearl V Puri was arrested by the Waliv Police on June 4 on allegations of raping a minor in 2019. His arrest came as a shock to those who knew him. Many of his colleagues and friends from the industry extended their support to Pearl and claimed that he was falsely accused. Many vouched for his innocence. The actor has been charged under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act, and he was denied bail on June 11. Now, a throwback video is going viral on social media, and it shows Pearl talking about respecting women.
Akanksha Puri, while showing her support for Pearl, had said that Pearl couldn’t do something like this, and that he respects women a lot. Now, the throwback video that surfaced on social media shows Pearl V Puri telling his fans that one should respect women at all costs. “Agar aap ladkiyon ko izzat nahi de rahe ho, toh aap izzat ke laayak hi nahi ho. Unko izzat dena baahot zaroori hai, unka khush rehna bahot zaroori hai, kyunki agar woh khush rahengi toh duniya khush rahegi,” he said in the throwback video.
Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor also showed her support to Pearl V Puri. In a social media post, she claimed that the survivor's mother had told her that Pearl Puri was innocent.
“Will I support a child molester…or a molester of any kind? But what I witnessed from last night to now, was the absolute low in human depravity. How can humanity go to this level? How can people who are upset with each other, drag a third person into their own fight? How can a human being take on another human being and do this? After various calls with the child‘s/girl’s mother, who openly said that Pearl was not involved and it’s her husband trying to create stories to keep her child and prove that a working mother on a set cannot take care of her kid. If this is true then it is wrong on so many levels!” wrote Ekta Kapoor.
