Dipika Chikhlia became a household name with the character of Sita, which she played in Ramayan- a classic being rerun on small screen currently, during the lockdown phase. We had a long elaborate chat with the actress about the show, the memories attached to it, how Sita changed her life and more.
During the conversation, Dipika had told us how she would never do anything which would harm her on-screen image, even if that meant not wearing short dresses. She lived Sita in and out. Talking about our exclusive conversation with Dipika, a few days back, for those of you who missed it, we reproduce the interview below:
One of the highlights of the chat was when Dipika told us why did she disappear from Bollywood, after doing a few films with Rajesh Khanna.
"I did a lot of work before I started with Vikram Betal and Ramayan. In fact, Ramayan was my last body of work on TV. I did a lot of South films with a lot of superstars. After that, I ended up doing a few films with Rajesh Khanna. If you talk about being tagged as a TV actress and not getting films, well, I would say that I was not liking the work I was offered in the mainstream category. I was getting what I wanted in regional cinema. Let's just say, Hindi film industry didn't work for me," Dipika had told us.
