Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan was a rage among the masses when it hit the TV back in the 90s. So much that stars Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia were considered to be Ram and Sita for real. Cut to 2020, the show made a comeback on Doordarshan on the demand of fans. As the lockdown period is on and no new shows are being shot, Ramayan made back to the TV and just like the 90s, it became instantly popular among the masses. With this, stars Arun Govil, Dipika Chickhlia too started making it to the headlines. The recent story is about Arun Govli receiving no award for the portrayal of Ram.

The actor has revealed this himself. In the response to Raghuvendra Singh's message talking about Arun's contribution to Ramayan and yet receiving no award, the actor wrote, "चाहे कोई राज्य सरकार हो या केंद्र सरकार, मुझे आज तक किसी सरकार ने कोई सम्मान नहीं दिया है. मैं उत्तर प्रदेश से हूँ, लेकिन उस सरकार ने भी मुझे आज तक कोई सम्मान नहीं दिया. और यहाँ तक कि मैं पचास साल से मुंबई में हूँ, लेकिन महाराष्ट्र की सरकार ने भी कोई सम्मान नहीं दिया. #रामायण." In gist, he stated that he has received no honour from either central or state government. He belongs to Uttar Pradesh and the state has not given him any award. He also stated that the Maharashtra Government too has not felicitated him as he has been living here for almost 50 years.

Last, he was in the news as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tagged a fake account in his name while appreciating Ramayan. (Also Read: Ramayan: Sita Dipika Chikhlia’s BTS Pic With Ramanand Sagar And Arun Govil Goes Viral As Fans Notice Laxman, Bharat, Shatrughan Photobombing
