Sanjeeda Sheikh In Legal Trouble, Actress & Family Slapped With Domestic Violence Case
Kya Tu Mera Laage actress Sanjeeda Sheikh’s 22-year-old sister-in-law Zakerabanu Zakir Hussain Bagban has filed a domestic violence case against her, her bother Anas Abdul Rahim Sheikh and their mother, Anisha Sheikh

Sanjeeda Sheikh, who seldom courts controversy, has found herself in legal
trouble. In a shocking turn of events, her sister-in-law Zakerabanu Zakir
Hussain Bagban has filed a domestic violence case against her, her bother Anas
Abdul Rahim Sheikh and their mother, Anisha Sheikh.
Zakerabanu
alleges that she was speaking with her father over the phone on May 27 when
the trio started yelling at her and beating her up, saying that they didn’t
want her in their Mumbai home anymore. On the same day, she took the first
flight out to Ahmedabad, where her parents are based, and was admitted to a
local hospital in Sarkhej Roza. After being discharged on May 29, she
lodged an FIR at Sarkhej Police Station.

Zekarabanu, who
is seeking maintenance under Section 125 of CrPC at the Family Court,
Ahmedabad, against Anas further claimed, “They often demanded money from my
father and would beat me up. My husband is alcoholic, a drug addict and is also
involved in match-fixing,” she told Mumbai Mirror.
The 22-year-old
tied the knot with Anas two years ago. However, post things took a turn for the
worse, has been staying at her own home near Sarkhej Roza (Ahmedabad) for the
past 3 months. She further said,
“It was the
final straw when Anas raised his hand on me in the presence of my mother and
sister in their Mumbai home. I was hospitalised after that in Ahmedabad. I was
told at the time of our marriage that he is in the construction business but he
is mostly home.”
A police case at
the Sarkhej Roza Police Station under Section 498A has also been filed, but the
Sheikhs are yet to respond.

In response,
Sanjeeda’s lawyers have filed a petition seeking to quash Zakerabanu’s FIR,
which counter-alleged that Zakerabanu had a disturbed relationship with her
father due to his orthodox attitude, which adversely affected her equation with
her husband, Anas, and made it difficult for her to adjust in the more liberal
environment of her marital home. It further stated that on the day of the
alleged incident, Zakerabanu informed Anas that she was not well and that she
had quit the makeup institute that she was training early to leave for her
parents’ house. Sanjeeda had been shooting for her daily soap at the time of
the alleged incident.
The latest development in the case brought interim relief for Sanjeeda on August 30, when the Ahmedabad High Court waived the service of notice.

Sanjeeda’s lawyer Sunny Punamiya told Mirror, “The Hon’ble Court has
passed an order in favour of my client by stating that the investigating agency
should not take any coercive steps against her. In other words, the Hon’ble Court
accepted our submission that the FIR is baseless, bad in jurisdiction and
merely filed to harass my client.”
