BREAKING: Shagufta Ali In A Financial Mess Due To No Work; Actress Seeks Help For Medical Treatment- EXCLUSIVE
Shagufta Ali, popular TV and Bollywood actress, has come out to ask for help from those who can as the actress is in a dire need of financial assistance and work. She needs money for her medical treatment
Bollywood and Television actress Shagufta Ali, who we have seen in a lot of projects, is going through a tough phase in her life. The actress who has given 36 years to the industry and has worked in more than 15 popular films and about 20 TV serials is going through a major financial crunch owing to her health issues. This piece of news came as a shock to us and we reached out to the actress to know if it is true. Unfortunately, Shagufta did confirm she is in a very bad state.
Talking to SpotboyE.com exclusively Shagufta went on revealing, "I have been ill for the last 20 years but at that time I was young and I could handle it. I had cancer in the third advanced stage and I became a survivor. This is the first time I am talking about this in the media. Nobody knew that I had gone through this phase except a very few people from the industry who were my close friends. That was the time when I had a lot of work in my hand. I was diagnosed with Breast cancer and it was at the third stage. I had to go through major surgery to remove that lump. I took chemotherapy which was like getting a new birth every time but I was so dedicated to my work and my responsibilities towards the people I was taking care of that on the seventeenth day of my surgery I traveled to Dubai with a cushion on my chest to shoot for my show.
I had a couple of accidents during my shoots. I hurt my legs a lot then I had one major accident while I was going to see my father. My bone broke into two pieces and I had to put a steel rod in my hand. I still have that. But all these things didn't stop me from working. I kept doing work and living my life with a positive attitude. But now from the last 4 years, life has become too harsh on me. I got detected with diabetes 6 years back and since then I have been facing a lot of health issues. Because I witnessed a lot of things much earlier in my life which people usually witness after the age of 65, my health condition has worsened. Diabetes has affected my feet very badly. I have this numbness in my fit and in between, I used to have terrible pain. My sugar level shoots up because of my stress level. And now it has affected my eyes also and for that I have to go through this treatment."
Shagufta, who did a cameo in Jennifer Winget and Harshad Chopda starrer Bepannah on COLORS TV, has been out of work for the last four years which has affected her financial condition badly, "I don't know why but from last four years, less work has come to me and whatever came, at the last moment it didn't get materialized. Kuch kaam to 99 percent hone ke baad mana ho gaye. I have just done one film in between and that also has not been completed. I shot for it before the pandemic happened. The last full-fledged work which I did was Saath Nibhana Saathiya for a stretch of 10-11 months. For 36 years, I have been working in the industry. In May, I completed 36 years. I started working at the age of 17 and now I am 54. Since that time these four years have shown me the worst period of my life. I had no help. Not many knew that I am going through a major financial crunch because till then I sold a lot of my assets to survive."
Shagufta who was emotional while sharing this with us also revealed, "I have sold my car, jewelry and I have been traveling in auto rickshaws if I am going out to the doctor. It's been very hurtful to me because I have been a self-made person. I had no support when I came to this industry and whatever work I have done, I got on merit. I need immediate financial help and also work to survive. I was really confused, honestly If I should come out and ask for help. But I am in need as I have nothing left to sell now. I have taken a loan from the people which I have to repay. Other than that I have to pay house EMI's, medical bills, and other things. The liabilities and responsibilities don't end. Nobody is going to wait until I am going through a financial crisis so let's wait. They want the money."
Shagufta is currently staying with her 73-year old ailing mother and cousin's daughter who she has brought up since the beginning, "My father and younger brother have passed away. So I have no help. The person to whom I was supposed to get married also died eight years back. There has not been any support for me. For all these years I have been supporting these people. I feel lucky that I could help my friends and family in every way possible. But unfortunately, when I am going through these traumatic and horrible years people are not there to take care. However, I would like to mention there are people who have helped me in these bad times when I asked for help. God really bless them."
Ask her who all she went to seek help and Shagufta reveals, "I didn't go to somebody personally asking for the help till now. But a couple of people who have been very close to me like Sumeet Raghvan who treats me as an elder sister. I told him about it and he was very supportive saying 'Shagufta Aapa, don't worry, I will do something about it. Neena Gupta who I have worked with and also a friend have been very helpful. Also, Sushant Singh has been very kind to help me in this situation."
Sharing the reason for her seeking financial help from others, the actress says, "My mother needs immediate medical attention as she also has diabetes, arthritis and a knee problem. I am unable to take her to the doctor. I am getting her medication done by consulting the doctors over the phone who I know in the family. My treatment is also going for eyesight and diabetes. I don't have money for that either. People must be facing pandemic lockdown for the last one and a half years. But for me, I have had this situation for the last four years. I had been taking care of the education of my cousin's kids for all these years but for the last four years I have not been able to help them either. I have been helping my relatives from when I was earning to my father's side but now I am not in a position to help bhaut baatien suni pad rahi hai. As they feel I am loaded with money and don't want to share now which is absolutely not true."
This situation has also not stopped Shagufta from looking for work. As she says, "I keep getting audition calls and I do give my audition. Because if I don't do that they will not give me work. Unfortunately that is also now facing hurdles as nowadays auditions are happening on video and that is not possible for me because I don't have anyone to record for me as I have a rod in my hand and if I operate a phone then I can't perform. And mummy has arthritis so she can't take my video. I tell them to come home and do it. Only once they came to the house and did my audition but nothing worked out there also. The time is such that acche projects aakar na ho rahe and kai projects to mujhe reason hi nahi samajh aa raha ki kyu mana ho rahe hain."
Before concluding Shagufta seeked help from the people and mentioned, "I want financial help and also work. I hope that people will understand my situation and come ahead to support me."
