Shivan Khajuria essays the role of Rohit in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has opened up about why his character is missing from the show’s current track
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’s fourth generation has slowly started to grow on the audience. Despite being disappointed that Pranali Rathod and Harshad Chopda’s track came to an end in two years, viewers have been slowly getting invested in the track surrounding Samridhii Shukla, Shehzada Dhami, Shivam Khajuria, and Pratiksha Honmukhe. However, only months after his introduction as the second lead, Shivam's less screen presence on the show has led to speculations of his departure.
According to the current track of the show, it was seen that after finding out about Armaan and Ruhi’s unrequited love story, Rohit runs away from the house after the New Year party due to guilt. Despite the Poddar’s blaming her for Rohit’s disappearance, Abhira takes matters into her own hands and joins forces with Madhav to find her brother-in-law. While she manages to get a hold of him and call him back home, he gets into an accident and goes missing. All this while Rohit plans to annul his marriage so that Armaan and Ruhi can be happy together. Shivam, who essays the role of Rohit, has now opened up about his disappearance from the show.
In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, he revealed that Rohit going missing was a pre-planned move by the makers of the show as he had prior commitments in January that he wanted to complete. Before even signing the show, he had informed the makers about his unavailability in the current month, and the ongoing track was introduced to accommodate his request. Khajuria went on to share that his character will be soon returning to the show, next month, with a “bang and a high-voltage drama.”
Talking about the overwhelming response he has received from the fans, after his character’s disappearance on the show, the actor told the entertainment portal, “Ever since the track unfolded, fans have been messaging me asking me my whereabouts and telling me to not leave the show. People love Rohit's character and the love is genuinely overwhelming. I feel very happy and grateful that Rohit has been able to strike a chord with the viewers. I want to tell all of them to stay tuned to the show and that Rohit will soon be back.”
