Surbhi Tiwari Falls Prey To Online FRAUD, Losses Rs 5,000 While Booking A Hotel In Ayodhya For Ram Mandir Visit- REPORTS
Known television actress Surbhi Tiwari became a household name for her versatile performances in serials. She recently fell prey to online cyber fraud while she was trying to book a hotel in Ayodhya. She was traveling to the city as she wanted to seek blessings from the newly-constructed Ram Lalla temple, however, she was scammed ahead of her trip. As reported by the Free Press Journal, while she was planning her trip, she was finding it difficult to find good accommodation.

It was then that a relative suggested that she should stay at a well-known dharamshala in Ayodhya. Tiwari looked up the guest house online and after research found a number. She went on to contact the number associated with the dharamshala and connected with a man over WhatsApp. She requested him to send her the photos of the rooms after which she booked a room there. The man shared his Google Pay number and asked her to transfer him Rs 2,500.

Quoted by the media publication, she added, “He asked for a security deposit, leading to another payment of the same amount. When I asked for the registration number, he suggested making a single payment instead of two, citing technical reasons. I asked him to reverse the payment so that I could transfer Rs 5,000 in one go.”

She started feeling suspicious as the man made her speak to another person, who was posing as an accountant. The latter shared a barcode with her. She started feeling suspicious as the man started to delete his WhatsApp messages while talking to her. Surbhi added, “Fortunately, I use GPay on another phone, and hence, he couldn’t fleece more money.”

Upon her research with the help of local media, she realised that the contact information and the website are not associated to the dharamshala. The Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo actress lodged a complaint at the Versova police station on March 1 as the incident took place on February 29. She left for Ayodhya on March 5 and warned her fans about the incident. She asked them to be careful while dealing with such matters.
