Deblina Chatterjee, who was roped in by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai makers to replace Kanchi Singh and essay the character of Gayu, has gone missing from the show. Her entry was a turning point in the show. Her track involved reigniting romance with Kartik (Mohsin Khan) thus creating a rift between him and Naira (Shivangi Joshi).
We had also heard that the actress will turn surrogate mother for Kartik and Naira's child as the latter wouldn’t be able to bear a child due to health issues. That’s not all, a love angle between Gayu and Kartik's chachu, Samarth (Samir Onkar), was also being planned. However, Deblina has not been seen in the show since a month.
We dug deeper to figure out what’s the reason behind the ‘missing act’ and a source close to the show told us, “Deblina is not shooting for the show at this point. Currently, we are only focusing on Kartik-Naira and Naksh-Keerti's stories.” It seems the makers have changed their plan and Deblina is unaware.
We got in touch with the actress to understand her side of the story and she said, “While I was signing the show, the makers did inform me that owing to a certain track, I might have to wait in between. I am considering this to be the phase. I hope to make a comeback soon.”
Deblina has been a part of some path-breaking shows like Sasural Simar Ka and Balika Vadhu. The actress was brought in to the show a year after Kanchi Singh had quit. At that time, buzz had suggested that the makers might get Kanchi back, but rubbishing the rumours. The actress exclusively told SpotboyE.com, “No, I am not re-entering the show. Not even thought of being a part of it, again! I got to know 2 -3 days back that the makers are getting back Gayu when fans started messaging me on my social media. But I just want to say that the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai chapter is over for me and I have moved on."
