Bigg Boss 12 contestant Nehha Pendse will be taking the pheras with fiance Shardul Byas on January 5 next year in Pune. The actress spoke to us at length about her decision of getting married, what she will wear on D-day, the dress code, theme, guests list and sangeet performance. Read on:
Tell us, how are marriage preparations going on?
I work the best under pressure. This is the most exciting phase of my life because I have shot for one of my best films till date and soon I’m going to experience the most important moment of my life, i.e. next month. So without a doubt, this is the best phase of my existence.
A girl has big dreams for her wedding day. So, how’s it churning out for you?
I don’t socialize much. And I always wanted my marriage to be a close knit affair. But Shardul is totally opposite of me in this case. He loves to socialise and have his friends over. Honestly, the wedding is extremely grand than my set expectations.
Your engagement came as a huge surprise. When did you actually decide to settle down with Shardul?
I was planning to settle down since a long time. But unfortunately, I was not getting the right kind of man in my life. I had almost given up on the thought of getting married as I was very much clear in my mind that I will not marry someone until I’m very sure of him. I take this institution very seriously and I was looking for someone who will also take equally seriously.
How long did it take you to say ‘Yes’ to Shardul?
I know Shardul for more than a year now. He was exactly the guy who I was looking for and he changed my perception about marriage again. He was very sure about me since the day we met and that's what I loved about him the most. Because in today's life, everyone wants to date you but no one wants to give commitment. And after going through a heartbreak years ago, I decided that I just don't want to love someone for the heck of it, but want that love to reach somewhere. And Sharul made me extremely secure about that.
So he proposed for marriage or you took the step first?
Yes, he did. Shardul is a no-nonsense kind of a person. When we met, he didn't waste a lot of time to decide if I am that woman. So he asked me to date him right away and with that he said ‘I want to be with you for a lifetime now, so its up to you how you want to take this proposal ahead.’

Within 4-5 months, we were in an official relationship and then, we decided that we will marry in January 2020. Just that the date wasn’t fixed.
You never tried to hide or create mystery around your relationship status?
I don't believe in hiding my relationship. If I love someone, everyone needs to know about it because it is also about respecting my partner. And if I love someone, why would he be the hidden aspect of my life.
Will you continue with your acting career post marriage?

Yes, I will. In fact, one of the biggest films I shot for is right between my marriage preparations. It’s an intense Marathi film and Shardul is extremely supportive towards it. He really likes the fact that I am a self-made woman. Since he likes that part, he doesn't want to take it away even after marriage.
Has he seen you on-screen before?
Shardul’s parents have been following my show 'May I Come In Madam?' They did know who their son is dating and Shardul informed me about it. Later when I met them they told this to me as well.
Where will your new home be?
Shardul is also a Mumbaikar and stays in Prabhadevi. So after marriage, I will be staying with him over there.
How is your parents’ reaction as your wedding is barely a month away?
Me and Shardul are very calm and composed but our parents’ excitement is on another level. My parents adore him as a person and that is also one of the reasons that they are the happiest especially my mother who is very fond of him.
You are getting married in Maharastrian style...
I had only one demand that I want to get married in Maharashtrian style which he was really cool about.
What arrangements are being made for the guests?
Each one who is attending my marriage will have the feeling of a vacation. I want them to enjoy every moment and that's why I have kept the whole wedding very casual and don't want to give them a typical wedding vibe. I am not going to force them with theme dress code or being part of all the rituals. As I personally don't like to attend weddings which have dress codes and stuff. I really want to set my guests free. Come and chill.
Will you and Shardul be performing during your sangeet ceremony?
We are not practicing and doing any kind of couple dance as I really don't like this kind of attention. If some surprise performances are being planned, then I don't know. But Sukhbir is performing on our sangeet. So I am sure people will have a blast.
Who all are attending your wedding from the industry?
We have a very limited guest list as I already said it will be a tight ceremony. I haven’t invited anyone as such from the so it will be our families and our dear friends at the wedding.
