Parineeti: Abhinandan Singh AKA Balwinder On Playing Hardcore Drunker: 'Being A Non-Alcoholic, It Was Very Challenging Role'-EXCLUSIVE
In an exclusive interview with SpotboyE, actor Abhinandan Singh gets candid about his new show ‘Parineeti’ where he plays the role of hardcore alcoholic Balwinder Bajwa
RJ turned actor Abhinandan Singh, who is known for his stint in TV shows like ‘Naagin 6’ and ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2’, is one of the most promising actors that we have in the industry. Singh is currently seen essaying the role of a hardcore alcoholic Balwinder Bajwa, the elder brother of the lead actor in Colors TV's new show Parineeti. In an exclusive interview with SpotboyE, Abhinandan opened up about his role and revealed how challenging it was for him to pull off this character considering that he is a non-alcoholic in real life.
Abhinandan shared, As an actor, it’s always good to experiment. Recently, in the web show The Fame game I played a Arnab Goswami-like character, *in four more shots please 3 I’ll be playing a cameo named Vipul * but here in Parineeti, it was a different character and something out of my comfort zone. People will see me in never seen before avatar in the show.” He added, “Playing Balwinder Bajwa was definitely very challenging because when you’re a Teetotaller (nonalcoholic) and every time you’ve to be been in the skin of that ace alcoholic guy, that definitely makes it a bit challenging and emotionally taxing. But, I feel such challenges only make you a real actor. You work on all those nuances, to make your character look more real & relatable.”
Abhinandan Singh went on to share that every time he is in his character, he needs to remind himself consciously to be in that legit alcoholic zone. "Because Balwinder is a mature, subtle alcoholic, I have to ensure that I maintain this thin line which defines Balwinder Bajwa and of course carry this drunkard zone throughout the show,” he further stated. When asked the radio Jockey and Television presenter Abhinandan about what appealed to him the most about his character, he mentioned, “Firstly, this character sketch which is “sabse Hatke” in the show! Plus, this character somehow reminds you of blockbuster films like Kabir Singh & Jersey with which audiences have really related and showered love! So, there was no reason why this wouldn’t appeal to me or any actor who likes to experiment.”
Abhinandan also expressed his gratitude to TV mogul Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms for believing in him and giving him the opportunity to showcase his talent.
Bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor, Parineeti is based in North India and revolves around the story of two best friends Parineet and Neeti. Starring Anchal Sahu, Tanvi Dogra, and Ankur Verma, the daily soap premiered on 14 February 2022.
Meanwhile, Abhinandan has a lot of exciting projects in his kitty. He will be seen hosting the dance reality show ‘Naachega India’. He also has a series based on the LGBTQIA+ community ‘Nishabd’ and Four More Shots Please Season 3 in the lineup.
