Ramayan's Sita, Dipika Chikhlia On Disappearing From Bollywood, Joining Politics And Never Wearing Short Dresses- EXCLUSIVE
Who can forget the ever graceful and radiant face of Television world's first Sita? Dipika Chikhlia , who played the role, is currently entertaining the new generation as the epic show, Ramayana is back on TV.

Recently, Dipika joined us for a candid chat and spoke to us on numerous topics- right from her personal life, to Ramayana, to her daughters and much more. Watch the video below:

The conversation started with Dipika revealing how she couldn't believe that Ramayana is coming back as she felt there have been same rumours past a decade but it never got re-telecast. However, when it actually did, she was on cloud 9.

Dipika then spoke about her daughters and if they would ever be interested in joining the entertainment industry. We then asked Dipika why did she disappear from Bollywood, after doing a few films with Rajesh Khanna.

"I did a lot of work before I started with Vikram Betal and Ramayan. In fact, Ramayan was my last body of work on TV. I did a lot of South films with a lot of superstars. After that, I ended up doing a few films with Rajesh Khanna. If you talk about being tagged as a TV actress and not getting films, well, I would say that I was not liking the work I was offered in the mainstream category. I was getting what I wanted in regional cinema. Let's just say, Hindi film industry didn't work for me," said Dipika.

Our chat then steered towards Dipika never wanting to break away from her image of Sita, to an extent that she never wore short dresses on-screen. She said, "I didn't want to wear short dresses in films because it was going against my image. I had played Sita and people literally saw me as that. So, I didn't want to hurt fans' feelings. In such situations, you either break away from an image or carry on with it. In my case, I didn't want to break away from it because it was too strong. It would have backfired."

Interestingly, Dipika also joined politics in between and was in it for 5 long years. The actress tells us how did that happen and why she came out of it.

Dipika is open to returning to the world of acting but says she hasn't made any efforts as such from her end. "I have been waiting. I am getting calls from good production houses but on my own, I haven't called anyone because I don't know anyone personally as such," said Dipika.

Lastly, we also asked Dipika for her views on the recent Sonakshi Sinha-Mukesh Khanna controversy, where the latter mocked the actress for not being able to answer a question related to Ramayan on KBC. Mukesh, a few days back had said that good Ramayan is being rerun for people who don't know things about our mythology.

To this, Dipika said that one should not malign anyone's image, especially if we belong to the same fraternity. "It's okay to not know everything. If I ask something about NASA to Mukesh Khanna, I am sure a scientist would pin him down on it. We should spread love and not hatred," concluded Dipika.
