Rupal Patel aka Kokilaben became an Internet sensation recently after her one of the scenes from her popular show, Saath Nibhana Saathiya was remixed into a song by Yashraj Mukhate.
And now when the makers have confirmed that she will once again play Kokilaben on TV screen we couldn't hold back our excitement to speak with her on her comeback with this iconic character, becoming an Internet sensation and much more. Read the interview below:
Did you ever expect Saath Nibhana Saathiya to have a sequel?
Saath Nibhana Saathiya was a show which was so successful in the evening slot that it managed to make 7 pm a primetime slot. It was a superhit show which ran for 7 years. And usually business policy suggests that if something has benefited you so much they usually bring that property again. But I never imagined that during this time, they would suddenly decide to come back with Season 2.
Kokilaben is an iconic character. Was that the reason you agreed to play it again?
Honestly, when they approached me to play Kokilaben which I had played for so many years, I was happy. But at the same time it also came to my mind that I am already essaying a very strong character on TV i.e of Meenakshi Rajvansh in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. So, how will I justify both the characters as both are equally important? Also, how will I manage to shoot both the shows. But I am lucky enough to have producers like Rajan Shahi Sir and Rashmi Sharma Mam who supported me in this. They will be adjusting my dates and shoot schedules, so I finally agreed to it.
Will the audience get to witness a new Kokilaben this time?
I believe every character has a basic credit. Their characterization is like a spinal cord in which we add on a few things and do some changes but the core remains static. I am sure this new season will have something to add on but via your platform, I would like to ask my audience what kind of Kokilaben they want to see?
Gopi Bahu (Devoleena) is already a part of this season, what kind of equation you two share with each other?
We have worked with each other for a long period and have always been professional towards each other. It's been three years, the show went off-air and now when we are coming back together, I am sure we will share similar equation. In fact, we will work with more maturity and clarity this time. My main motive while doing any show is about focusing on my character and show.
You became like an Internet sensation after Yashraj Mukhate's Rasode Mein Kaun Tha mashup...
I was surprisingly shocked seeing that video. I really liked the way he made a mashup of my effective dialouge with a lovely music. After that with help of my friends, I figured out his number and called him to appreciate. On the other hand he was also extremely surprised as he was also not expecting a call from me. I think the young generation is doing a good job and they should get praised for that.
Would you like him to make more such videos on your strong dialouges?
Why not? The one he made was entertaining and people liked it so much.
