Padma Shree Awardee and Indian sprinter Milkha Singh passed away on June 18, 2021 due to COVID-19. The legendary athlete battled with the deadly Coronavirus for a month; aged 91, everyone from commoners, to celebs, to politicians and more, were seen paying their last tribute to the legend. As the sprinter was cremated a picture of his corpse hit the internet. It has late Milkha Singh holding his late wife Nirmal Kaur’s picture in his hand. Isn’t this picture enough to define love?

This got the netizens saluting their love and affection for one another. Social media platform saw comments that read, “They are love birds that's why they Don't leave in the earth without there love,”  “True love,” “Phir ese hi kisi gali se nikalenge sir usi raftar se,” and more.The mortal remains of the legend was dressed in a black suit and maroon turban. Nirmal Kaur, passed away just 5 days before, i.e. June 13, 2021, after she too was down with COVID-19 and was recuperating at the ICU of PGIMER.

The late sprinter who was married to Indian women’s volleyball team captain has mentioned in his autobiography of his wife being his biggest trophy. In an old interview, Nirmal Kaur sharing this deets, stated this statement of her husband was her gift.


On his parents’ death, their son Jeev Milkha Singh in his note shared that his life won’t be easy without them, a part of his Instagram note read, “I love you with all of my heart mom and dad.
