Veteran playback singer Udit Narayan recently found himself at the center of controversy after videos from one of his live concerts went viral. In these clips, Narayan can be seen performing on stage when female fans approach him for selfies. He happily obliges, posing for pictures and even exchanging kisses on the cheeks. However, one particular moment where he appears to kiss a fan on the lips sparked widespread.
Addressing the backlash, Narayan defended his actions, emphasizing the deep emotional bond he shares with his fans. He stated that his gestures were purely affectionate and should not be misinterpreted. According to him, his interactions were spontaneous and reflected the love and admiration his fans have for him. He further asserted that those trying to create controversy around the videos were misjudging the situation.
Narayan also questioned the timing of the video's release, pointing out that the concert had taken place months ago during his tour in the US and Canada. He suggested that there might be an agenda behind resurfacing the clips now, stating that no matter how much people try to bring him down, he will continue to rise above negativity.
Despite the controversy, Narayan remains focused on his illustrious career. The legendary singer, who has been honored with multiple National and Filmfare Awards, as well as the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, aspires to achieve India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. Drawing inspiration from the late Lata Mangeshkar, he hopes to leave a lasting legacy in the music industry.
In his view, the incident is nothing more than a misinterpretation, and he remains undeterred, continuing to engage with his fans and contribute to the world of music.
