80% Differently-Abled Spiritual Leader Omguru Steps Into Acting With Hindi Short Film ‘Mind Game’
Ahmedabad: Renowned spiritual leader, filmmaker and social influencer Omguru has made his acting debut with the Hindi short film Mind Game, marking a significant milestone in a creative journey that spans spirituality, theatre and cinema. Produced under the banner of Omguru Films, the short film is being presented at international film festivals and has already generated early interest within the festival circuit.
Despite being 80 percent physically disabled, Omguru achieves a rare distinction with Mind Game, having contributed to almost every aspect of filmmaking. Previously known for scripting and directing the award-winning films Gaamdhani and Vardan Ke Shrap, he now steps in front of the camera. The film uses psychological tension and emotional realism to explore depression, inner conflict and resilience, offering a powerful message of hope and strength.
Reflecting on his acting debut, Omguru said, “Acting was never about personal ambition for me. It was about conveying the truth that limitations of the body cannot limit the strength of the spirit. Through this film, I want people facing emotional or physical challenges to realise that they are not alone.”
The film features a strong ensemble cast including Priyanka Singh, Dhruvin Kumar, Smit Joja, Hardik Kumar, Atman Shah, Zeel Bhavsar, Devansh Kashyap and Shivay, each contributing to enhance the film’s emotional depth.
Omguru’s background in theatre has played a crucial role in shaping his cinematic vision. Between 1992 and 1994, he trained under eminent Gujarati playwright Hasmukh Baradi, wrote multiple plays during his college years, and directed his own works at the Darpana Academy.
Speaking about his experience, Omguru said, “Standing before the camera was challenging, but also liberating. If my journey encourages even one person to choose life and purpose over despair, the effort is worth it.”
A suspense Hindi short film titled Pakit, featuring Omguru’s screenplay, dialogues, direction and acting, is slated to go into production in February 2026.
Omguru is also the founder of the Ahmedabad International Film Festival, which will host it 17th edition in October. The festival has received more than 4,700 film entries till February 2026 from across the globe ahead of its August deadline.
