In a recent YouTube live question-answer session, former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers disclosed that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child. Speculations about the couple's pregnancy had been circulating for several months, and the rumours gained momentum when Kohli opted out of the first two test matches against England. When asked about Kohli's status, the star South African shared, "All I know is he is fine. He is spending a bit of time with his family, that is the reason he is missing the first two Test matches. I am not going to confirm anything else. I cannot wait to see him back. He is fine, he is happy." In a light-hearted exchange, De Villiers revealed that he had messaged Kohli, expressing concern and receiving the response that Kohli needed to be with his family. Confirming the news, De Villiers said, "Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people's priority is family. You can't judge Virat for that. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a press statement in response to Virat Kohli's request for leave from the initial two Test matches. The statement read, "Mr. Virat Kohli has sought the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be excused from the first two Tests of the forthcoming IDFC First Bank Test series against England, citing personal reasons."

Anushka Sharma tied the knot with Virat Kohli in a dreamy Italy wedding in 2017. The couple were blessed with a baby girl in January 2021 and named her Vamika.
